The Sports and Learning Complex is a project for the Maryland National Capital Park and Planning Commission. The complex has a total of 240,000 square feet of building area, which encompasses a full range of facilities. The structure, which sits at a high point on the forty acre site, houses athletic facilities which include a 200 meter indoor track, 50 meter competition pool, recreational leisure and warm up pool, gymnastics training facility, warm up gymnasium with aerobics floor, fitness center and full support facilities which include locker/showers, concessions, training and coaches rooms. The building also includes a learning component, which provides space for class, and meetings for interactive computer learning, cross training instruction, and other educational programs.The main building is only part of this expansive complex. On the site there is a soccer field, 400 meter track with hillside seating for 6,000 spectators, warm-up and practice field, adventure playground and parking for almost 500 cars. The facility, which is adjacent to the Washington Redskins new stadium, utilizes the stadiums parking for overflow capacity on event days. It is envisioned that this facility will host national and world-class events in all sports venues and will become one of the premier amateur sports facilities in the country.
